MANILA, Philippines — Former Palace official and professor of the University of the Philippines (UP) Renato Velasco has died, the university confirmed Saturday. He was 66.
The UP Department of Political Science announced that Velasco, who served as an associate professor of the Department of Political Science, passed away on April 4, Saturday, three months before he turned 67 this July.
“In memoriam: Renato S Velasco (16 July 1953 – 4 April 2020) Dr. Velasco was an associate professor in the Department of Political Science,” read the statement in a Facebook post.
Velasco was also a former chief of the Presidential Management Staff in 2006.
