DLSU offers free mental health counseling amid COVID-19 pandemic

MANILA, Philippines — The De La Salle University is offering free mental health counseling services to students, frontliners and those infected with COVID-19, as well as patients under investigation (PUIs) and persons under monitoring (PUMs) in view of the month-long enhanced community quarantine.

“Telepsychology for the Lasallian Community aims to respond to the mental issues that frontliners as well as the academic community members who are experiencing severe stress, anxiety, and psychological issues brought about by the Enhanced Community Quarantine,” the university on Saturday posted on its official Facebook page.

DLSU is offering psycho-educational materials, webinar sessions and online counseling, as per the announcement.

The services are open to frontline health providers, caregivers, hospital staff, volunteers, COVID-19 patients, PUIs, PUMs and members of the La Sallian community experiencing mental health issues.

The University of the Philippines, meanwhile, has recently offered free treatment and services for people living with human immunodeficiency virus, as well as free online dental consultations to the public amid the pandemic.
