Robredo spox thanks Duterte for defending VP’s efforts vs COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — The spokesman of Vice President Leni Robredo on Saturday thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for defending her and her office’s efforts in fighting the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

This came after the Chief Executive fired Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Commissioner Manuelito Luna after he urged the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to probe Robredo for allegedly competing with the government’s efforts to combat the viral disease.

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has provided free shuttle services, distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) for health care workers, and opened free dormitories to the frontliners in the COVID-19 fight.

Barry Gutierrez said in a statement.

(We thank the President’s statement that it is not crime to help fellow Filipinos in the time of crisis.)

Gutierrez added that the OVP is still calling for donations of PPEs and other needs for doctors, nurses and other frontliners.

(We are also reminding the public regarding the route of our shuttle services that can be found on our Facebook page, as well as the dorms for our health workers.)

(We are currently filled to capacity, but we’re expecting more help coming from the private sector. VP Leni is still continuing her work in supervising the projects in responding to the COVID-19 crisis.)
