Quezon Institute to become quarantine facility for asymptomatic COVID-19 patients

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon Institute in Quezon City will soon be converted into a quarantine facility for asymptomatic COVID-19 patients or those with mild symptoms, a non-government organization said Thursday.

The Philippine Tuberculosis Society Inc. (PTSI) said it is coordinating with the Philippine health department to turn an area of the Quezon Institute into an isolation facility.

“We are currently finalizing discussions with the Department of Health (DOH) for it to use an area within the property of our hospital arm – the Quezon Institute (QI) – as a Quarantine Facility for COVID-19 patients under the direct medical supervision of the DOH,” read the statement.

Once accredited, the hospital’s quarantine facility will take care of COVID-19 patients who are asymptomatic or those with mild symptoms as well as patients under investigation (PUIs) and persons under monitoring (PUMs) for possible coronavirus disease infection.

PTSI also assured that it will still take care of its regular patients amid the accommodation of the COVID-19 patients.

PTSI is a medical institution engaged in the detection, control, and medication of tuberculosis in the Philippines.
