IGC continues support for virus frontliners

MANILA, Philippines — With hospital resources strained to the limit because of the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, the Inquirer Group of Companies (IGC) has joined the private sector in responding to the urgent call to help health-care workers.

In partnership with different organizations, the IGC donated protective acrylic boxes for intubation to the Chinese General Hospital and the Batangas Medical Hospital; personal protective equipment to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) and the East Avenue Hospital, as well as face shields to St. Luke’s Hospital and the Bataan General Hospital.

It also cosponsored feeding programs for two barangays in Taguig.

Internally, it has extended support to all its employees and provided cash assistance for its front-line correspondents, guards, drivers, messengers, and newsboys.

In the first week of the quarantine period in March, INQUIRER.net immediately launched the Inquirer Covid-19 Info Desk to provide credible answers to people’s questions. The Info Desk devoted a space called “How you can help” that shows a list of the urgent needs of different hospitals with their contact details.

The IGC also supported the red ribbon movement by encouraging the Filipino community to salute all front-liners by changing their profile picture on social media to a red ribbon or to tie one at their gate.

The Inquirer Foundation is still accepting cash donations for health-care front-liners through Banco de Oro (BDO) current account #007960018860.

The IGC believes that we can overcome this pandemic through our collective efforts as one Filipino community.
