COVID-19 cases in Bicol up to 7

GUINOBATAN, Albay — Two new cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were confirmed by the Department of Health (DOH) in Bicol on Wednesday (April 1), bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the region to seven.

According to the health department, the sixth case of COVID-19 was a 60-year-old woman in Camarines Sur, while the seventh was a 63-year-old man in Albay.

The 60-year-old woman had been to Manila, an infected area, and got consultation at a health facility after symptoms manifested, according to Ernie Vera, DOH director in Bicol.

Contact tracing was being conducted for the 63-year-old man who is now at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital in Legazpi City.

“All confirmed cases are in stable condition,” Vera said.

The DOH regional office would provide updates in coordination with hospitals and local government units, he said.

The report also included a 30-year-old woman in Camarines Sur as the fifth case in Bicol, confirming for the first time Naga City Mayor Nelson Legacion’s announcement on Monday (March 30).
