LIGAO CITY –– Officials and watchmen (tanod) in the villages should receive compensation as frontliners in the fight against the dreaded coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Albay Representative Joey Salceda, said these one million force multipliers of the government, should also be included in the Emergency Subsidy Program or another program that would compensate them.

“There’s no overcoming this crisis without them,” he said.

Salceda, one of the proponents of survival subsidy for 18 million Filipinos affected by the enhanced community quarantine, has appealed for “the broadest coverage possible to keep everyone on the boat.”
