Cancer care facility opens in Tagum
TAGUM CITY—The government opened a P157-million center for cancer patients here on Sunday, providing affordable, adequate and accessible care to those afflicted in Mindanao.
The Mindanao Cancer Center at Davao Regional Hospital in Barangay Apokon “is one of the only three hospitals, government or private, in Mindanao that has the most advanced technology and facilities available to treat cancer,” Health Secretary Enrique Ona said.
It is officially named the Nuclear and Radiotherapy Center, he said.
“This will be a big help not only to our cancer victims here in Davao del Norte but also to all of Mindanao. We intend to make the services of the facility comparable with those in private hospitals, especially in Metro Manila,” said Gov. Rodolfo del Rosario.
The entire cost of the project was P157,447,509, with equipment alone worth P134.4 million. Frinston L. Lim, Inquirer Mindanao
