Batangas hospital shutters emergency room, lab after worker tests positive for COVID-19

A hospital in Batangas province would shut down two of its key sections, the emergency room and lab, for disinfection after an employee working in those sections tested positive for COVID-19.

The Bauan Doctors General Hospital (BDGH) in the town of Bauan said in an advisory on Tuesday (March 31) that it was closing its emergency room and lab section temporarily.

The sections would open on April 2 after disinfection.

The hospital advisory said it was “instituting necessary procedure” based on protocol defined by the Department of Health and the United States’ Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

No detail about the infected employee was given but the hospital said contact tracing is now ongoing. Those who had contact with the infected employee had been sent home to go on quarantine.

The advisory said the rest of the hospital would remain open but based on “available personnel.”
