Rizal town vice mayor with COVID-19 dies
SAN PEDRO CITY—The vice mayor of a town in Rizal province, who had tested positive for novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) died on
Tuesday (March 31).
Jolet delos Santos, vice mayor of Jala-jala town, Rizal was one of several government officials who had gone public with results of their COVID-19 tests. Also in Rizal, the province’s governor, Rebecca “Nini” Ynares, had tested positive for the disease.
Tony Mateo, Rizal information officer, in a text message to the Inquirer, confirmed Delos Santos’ death, but did not say its cause.
Delos Santos’ son Jom, in a Facebook post also on Tuesday, wrote “paalam (goodbye) Papa Jolet.”
In his previous post, on Mar. 22, Jom said his father was “very sick” and was placed in isolation last week and that his condition had slightly improved.
