New Clark City polyclinic ready for PUIs

CAPAS, TARLAC –– Isolation rooms set up at the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital Polyclinic inside the New Clark City are now ready to take in persons under investigation (PUI) for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), who display mild symptoms, Capas Mayor Reynaldo Catacutan said in a statement.

The polyclinic, which is located two blocks away from the Athletes Village, has four isolation rooms designated for women and three isolation rooms for men.

“We are not going to confine patients there, nor will we undertake medical treatments or procedures there,” Catacutan said.

The Athletes Village, which will still serve as a primary quarantine facility, housed hundreds of people who returned from abroad before COVID-19 infections accelerated in the country.

“For the severe PUI and patients confirmed to have COVID-19,” the government has designated well-equipped hospitals for them, the mayor said.

The provincial government would also set up quarantine sites for each Tarlac town and would continue to acquire more personal protective equipment to ensure zero casualty among health workers treating COVID-19 patients in the province, said Tarlac Governor Susan Yap.

The provincial government has also put up an Incident Command Center where two policemen, who have nursing licenses, would respond to queries about the virus.
