MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday opened the Kiangan Billeting Center (KBC) inside its headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City to accommodate hundreds of PNP personnel who will be on self-isolation while being monitored for possible coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said the KBC has 43 rooms with those in quarantine to be given free food, free rent, and other services.

“This initiative is still part of the organization’s Biosafety Plan, helping our persons under investigation (PUIs) and persons under monitoring (PUMs) personnel to have a place where they can stay without worrying about the rent fee and their meal while in quarantine,” Banac said in a statement.

To date, the national police force has 145 personnel considered as persons under investigation. Of the number, 25 are police commissioned officers (PCOs), 115 are police non-commissioned officers (PNCOs) and five are non-uniformed personnel.

To date, the number of COVID-19 cases in the PNP soared to seven after five Metro Manila police officers tested positive for the infectious disease.
