Long wait for COVID-19 test results keeps Palawan LGU in the dark

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY—The provincial government of Palawan continued to be in the dark on results of tests on four persons under investigation (PUI), or those with symptoms of COVID-19, as national testing labs struggled with backlogs.

The Department of Health’s (DOH) Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (Resu) on Tuesday (March 31) announced that results of tests on four PUI in the province are still pending.

Geraldine Perez, health education and promotion officer of the DOH, said COVID-19 tests for the province were being done at the RITM.

The provincial government is now keeping track of the condition of three PUI in hospitals and 73 PUI on home quarantine.

Village teams were on strict orders to monitor the health of the PUI.

The city government of Puerto Princesa had identified a hotel that could be used to house those with no symptoms but need quarantine because of travel to infected places or contact with carriers.

The city government would provide free meals and send health workers to constantly check on those who would be sent on quarantine.
