MANILA, Philippines — Workers whose employers did not process their application for the P5,000 cash assistance may go directly to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Secretary Silvestre Bello III said Tuesday.
Bello said the workers may arrange the application among themselves and directly contact the agency for the one-time cash assistance.
“We advise the worker na sabihan ‘yung kasamahan niyang worker na mag-submit sa amin. Ipapadala namin ito. Hindi na namin ipapadaan sa employer,” Bello said in a public briefing.
(We advise the workers to come together and submit the requirements directly to us. We will send the money to them. We will not process it through their employers.)
Bello said DOLE will send the cash assistance via remittance centers upon approval of their applications.
DOLE previously rolled out its COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) to help employees whose jobs were affected by the pandemic.
To avail the one-time financial assistance of P5,000, employers must submit a form and its company payroll to DOLE.
Meanwhile, low-income families can expect a P5,000 to P8,000 cash assistance from the government through the recently signed “Bayanihan To Heal As One Act.”
