Sinas: 5 Metro Manila cops test positive for COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Five members of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) have contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Metro Manila Police chief Major Gen. Debold Sinas said Tuesday.

“Out of 25,000 in NCRPO, there are already five confirmed positive for the [disease],” Sinas said in a press conference at the Kamuning Police Station.

Sinas also disclosed that of the five policemen, two are assigned at the NCRPO Regional Headquarters and one each are from Northern Police District, the Southern Police District and the Manila Police District.

Meanwhile, the NCRPO is checking 42 persons under investigation (PUIs) and 266 persons under monitoring (PUMs) in its ranks for possible coronavirus disease infection. Sinas said the police officers are now on mandatory quarantine.

The latest nationwide tally of Department of Health showed that there are 1,546 confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease. Of the number, the ailment killed 78 people while 42 have recovered from the disease.
