MANILA, Philippines — Two policemen from the Marikina police special operations unit are now facing criminal charges for allegedly raping two female detainees inside the police headquarters, the leadership of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) revealed Tuesday.
In a press conference at the Kamuning police station, Metro Manila police chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas identified the accused police officers as Patrolman Arnold Geroyand Patrolman Sonny Maruzzo.
He said the two policemen were arrested by a fellow police officer who reported that the female detainees were being molested inside a police office.
“Dalawang pulis ng Marikina were charged for rape. Ang maganda dito kapwa pulis din nang-aresto sa kanila,” Sinas said.

Sinas explained that the policemen arrested the two female detainees on March 29, for drug charges and were brought to their office in Marikina police station where the detainees were allegedly molested.
The police officers then transferred the female suspects at the custodial facility where the latter reported the rape incident to another policeman guarding the custodial facility, who then alerted their chief of police.
Sinas said the two policemen already admitted that they raped the two detainees.
Marusog and Joy are now detained at the Marikina Custodial Facility and were already subjected to inquest proceedings, Sinas said.
“Na-detain na sila sa jail facility. Hindi kasama sa babae baka mag-away, [They are detained at the facility. The women are not detained with them, a commotion might ensue],” NCRPO chief said.
Sinas also expressed dismay over the rape incident.
“It is just frustrating that in spite everything meron pa kaming pasaway na pulis. We put this out para malaman ng lahat na we don’t tolerate,” he said.
