Angara: I’m recovering from COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Sonny Angara on Monday evening said he is “recovering” from the coronavirus disease 2019  (COVID-19), four days since he announced he tested positive for the viral illness.

The senator posted a selfie on his social media accounts, expressing gratitude for the  prayers he received and the medical attention he has been receiving.

“Recovering thanks to your prayers and some good medical attention,” read the caption of his post.

In a text message to INQUIRER.net, Angara also said that his health condition is getting better according to his doctors.

“I’m better according to doctors. Lungs are clearing up. Pneumonia is getting better,” he said.

Angara is the third senator to test positive for COVID-19, next to Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri and Senator Aquilino Pimentel III.

Angara said he has not been in contact with the public since taking the test last March 16.

Several senators earlier went on self-quarantine after a resource speaker at a Senate hearing on March 5 tested positive for the illness.
