No specific group mentioned in Nazarene feast terror alert—DFA

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Foreign affairs, a member of the multi-agency Anti-Terrorism Council, on Monday said no foreign or local terrorist group was specified in connection with Malacañang’s disclosure Sunday of a possible terror threat during the Feast of the Black Nazarene procession in Manila.

“The DFA is in close coordination with the Anti-Terrorism Council, of which we are a member, and with other enforcement agencies on terrorism issues,” DFA Undersecretary and spokesman Raul Hernandez said Monday.

But “(there’s) no mention of any particular groups,” Hernandez told the INQUIRER.

Asked about the DFA’s role in dealing with the alleged terror threat, he said the Philippine National Police was “on top of this issue.”
