MANILA, Philippines — The Makati City government will provide P1,000-worth of cash assistance as well as food packs to persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the city to help them cope with the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.
The distribution of the cash assistance and food packs will start on Monday, according to an advisory from Mayor Abby Binay posted on her Twitter account.
“Para sa ating PWD, dalawa po ang pupunta sa inyong mga tahanan. Una, ang mga kawani ng MAC (Makati Action Center) upang ibigay ang inyong food packs at ikalawa, ang ating mga paymasters para sa inyong cash assistance,” the advisory read.
(Two groups will go to houses of PWDs. The first is the staff of the MAC to give the food packs and the second are paymasters who will give the cash assistance.)
“Ginagawa natin ito upang maging mas mabilis ang proseso ng (We do this to hasten the process of) delivery,” the advisory added.
Before this, the local government unit (LGU) also said that some 2,000 solo parents in the city will likewise receive P1,000 cash assistance.
The LGU also earlier announced that jeepney and tricycle drivers in the city would each receive P2,000 financial aid.
In an earlier radio interview, Binay explained that the Makati City government is practicing a sectoral approach in providing cash assistance to city residents.
“Our approach is sectoral. First are the students then, the informal sector, solo parents, PWDs. It’s very targeted,” she said in Filipino.
