San Juan City mayor to undergo self-quarantine

MANILA, Philippines — San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said Sunday he will go into self-quarantine after a staffer tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“In the interest of public safety, I will be going on self-quarantine starting today March 29 up to April 11, 2020,” Zamora said in a statement.

“I am in perfect physical condition and I have no COVID-19 symptoms at all. But because I have been exposed to a positive patient, I have decided to go on self-quarantine as a safety precaution for everyone,” he added.

Zamora assured he will continue to manage the city’s day to day operations, especially the medical and social aspects of its battle against COVID-19 while on quarantine.

“I will continue to be active on social media posting updates and advisories,” he said.

As of Saturday, there are 1,075 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country, of which 68 have already died.
