GUINOBATAN, Albay—Bicol has ended its COVID-19-free streak on Friday (March 27) with three confirmed cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH) COVID-19 tracker.
Bicol “breaks its COVID-free status”, the DOH announced on Friday.
One of the cases, that of a patient branded as PH763, was confirmed at the Bicol Medical Center (BMC) in Naga City, where the patient, a 48-year-old woman, had been confined.
The two other cases were those of patients branded as PH765 and PH766. The first was a 50-year-old man and the second was 53-years-old. Both are in the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) in Legazpi City.
As of Friday night, DOH was still verifying the nationality, residence, history of travel or exposure, and the date of confirmatory tests of the three patients.
Dr. Ernie Vera, DOH Bicol chief, said that the DOH is doing all it can to contain the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19.
“Strict infection control measures are installed at the said hospitals hence the safety of its health workers is secured,” Vera said in a statement.
