Elderly PUI in Digos dies while awaiting test result

DIGOS CITY—One of the 35 patients under investigation (PUIs) for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) here has died on Friday while waiting for test result from the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM).

A medical bulletin of the city health office said the 71-year-old woman was suffering from diabetes.

She had no history of travel to areas with COVID-19 infection and was not known to be exposed to a person who is either infected or suspected to have COVID-19 infection.

The patient has complained of breathing difficulty, one of COVID-19 symptoms, hence, she was categorized as a PUI and swab sample taken from her.

Of the city’s 34 remaining PUIs, seven are confined in hospitals, while 17 were already cleared of possible infection.

There are 667 persons under monitoring (PUMs) in Digos City with 304 on home isolation and 363 cleared after having completed the mandatory quarantine.
