To reduce risk of COVID-19 transmission, Albay town to bring market to the people

LEGAZPI CITY—The local government of Daraga in Albay province will launch on Saturday (March 28) a “mobile market” to keep residents home and avoid crowds gathering at the town’s public market.

Mayor Victor Perete, on a Facebook post, announced that the mobile market, actually a  truck loaded with basic goods, will make the rounds of different villages from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Two to four villages will be visited by the mobile market per day until April 10.

Buyers should coordinate first with village officials and were advised to still observe social distancing.

On Monday (March 23), the town has implemented “market coding” for urban, southern and northern villages to limit the number of people entering the public market
