COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas now 13

ILOILO CITY—The Department of Health (DOH) reported nine new COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas on Friday (March 27), bringing the total to 13 in the region.

One of the COVID-19 patients, a 72-year-old man from Iloilo City, died on March 19 before test results were released, according to a statement of the DOH in Western Visayas.

The other new cases included three in Aklan provinces, the first confirmed cases in the province. These involved three men, aged 81, 68 and 37.

Three more cases were reported in Bacolod City involving men aged 75, 40 and 28.

Also among the 13 cases were two women from Iloilo province aged 22 and 59.

Health officials earlier warned that the number of confirmed cases in the region was expected to increase since more tests were being conducted and processed.
