MANILA, Philippines — The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) is expected to bring rains over the southern part of Mindanao, the country’s weather bureau said Friday.
Based on the latest weather forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), rains may persist in some Mindanao areas including Davao City, Cagayan de Oro, and Zamboanga.
“‘Yon pong binabantayan nating low-pressure area ay nasa labas na po ng PAR, at ito po ay tinatayang nasa layong 495 kilometers south southeast ng Davao City,” Pagasa weather specialist Sam Duran said.
(The low-pressure area that we are monitoring has exited the PAR, and was currently located at a distance of 495 kilometers south southeast of Davao City.)
“Itong low-pressure area ay patuloy pa rin na mababa ang tsansa na maging ganap na bagyo, ngunit nakaka-apekto ang trough o extension ng low-pressure area dito sa may southern part ng Mindanao,” he added.
(The low pressure remains to have a small chance of turning into a typhoon, but its trough or extension would continue to affect the southern part of Mindanao.)
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather due to easterlies may be expected to affect Luzon provinces, with temperatures in Metro Manila and Tuguegarao, Cagayan, likely hitting 35 degrees Celsius while temperatures as high as 31 degrees Celsius may be felt in Laoag City and Legazpi City, and 32 degrees Celsius in Puerto Princesa City.
In Baguio City, the country’s summer capital, temperatures may range from 15 to 26 degrees Celsius.
In the Visayas area, daytime temperatures may reach 33 degrees Celsius in Iloilo City while Cebu and Tacloban may feel it at 32 degrees Celsius.
On the other hand, Pagasa said sea condition will remain slight to moderate in most parts of the country, as no gale warning has been raised.
