GUINOBATAN, Albay –– The city government of Naga suspended Friday the collection of rent, taxes, loan payments, and housing amortization due to them for the duration of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon.
The ordinance, signed by city council secretary Gil De la Torre and approved by Mayor Nelson Legacion, says the suspension of the payments would take effect immediately.
Close to 1,200 stallholders and around 900 vendors in the Naga City People’s Mall (NCPM) won’t have to pay their rent, for now, said Ramon Florendo, the market supervisor.
He told the Inquirer that cash tickets for vendors were valued at P10 to P30 per day while the collection for stallholders per month is P2.2 million.
“The (foot traffic) in the NCPM is significantly affected because of the home quarantine leave pass,” Florendo told Inquirer.
The Bicol Central Station (BCS) is not in operation due to the quarantine.
Froderick Reforsado, BCS operations manager, said that they asked Naga City to waive the rental fees for the souvenir shops and restaurants in the terminal.
He said that the station collects P800,000 from stallholders in a month.
