LIGAO CITY –– The city government of Ligao released cash assistance to very poor families affected by Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine on Friday.

The cash aid prioritized the indigent families and Barangay Health Emergency Response Team frontliners, Mayor Patricia Gonzalez-Alsua said.

Senior citizens, who are indigent and are not receiving any pension, will also get P500.

“This is our way of giving immediate assistance to affected families. Why cash? Because they can decide what to buy (be it food or medicines) for their family,” Gonzalez-Alsua said in a phone interview.

The P1,000 cash-out is a one-time financial assistance.

Meanwhile, medical teams stationed in government hospitals in Albay and Camarines provinces were given personal protective equipment (PPE) on Friday from Ako Bicol (AKB) Partylist.

Personnel at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital in Legazpi City and Bicol Medical Center in Naga City were given PPEs.

AKB Representative Alfredo Gardbin Jr. said about 200 goggles and 250 pairs of boots were given to frontliners.

He said 20,000 face masks and 250 gowns would also be arriving on March 30 and immediately distributed to different hospitals in Bicol.
