MANILA, Philippines — The Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases on Friday belied reports that Luzon will be placed under military control. It also denied reports that the duration of the extended enhanced community quarantine over Luzon will be extended.
IATF Spokesperson Karlo Nograles also assured that there will be no closure of public markets in the coming weeks.
“Gusto ko lang po linawin na lahat po ito ay puro fake news lamang po. Wag po tayong maniwala na merong military control, extended lockdown or may pagsasara ng Divisoria at ibang pang public markets po natin,” Nograles said in an interview over dzMM.
(I just want to clarify that all of these are fake news. Do not believe that there will be military control, extended lockdown or closure of Divisoria and other public markets.)
Nograles also called on the public to stop sharing unverified information and warned that criminal complaints will be filed against peddlers of “fake news.”
“To the public, do not share, do not post itong mga fake news na ito (these fake news),” Nograles said.
“So kung sino sino man ginagawa nito, hintay lang kayo dyan kasi alam naman ng mga security police personnel natin kung sino sino kayo. Tumigil na kayo,” he added.

The Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine, which was enforced to limit the public’s movement, will be effective until midnight of April 13.
