Hot, humid in Luzon and Visayas; LPA approaching Mindanao, thunderstorms seen

MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) spotted inside the Philippines Area of Responsibility (PAR) will bring cloudy skies and thunderstorms in the Davao Region and South Cotabato, the state weather bureau said Friday.

In a weather update, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Chris Perez said the LPA was last spotted 530 kilometers east southeast of Davao City.

Pagasa said the LPA is less likely to develop into a storm but would continue to affect parts of Mindanao for the next two days.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience hot and humid weather.

In Luzon, generally fair weather is expected with some parts forecast to have hot and humid weather with a chance of scattered rain showers in the afternoon or evening.

Temperature in Metro Manila will range from a low of 24 degrees Celsius to a high of 35 degrees Celsius.

Residents of the Visayas can also expect hot and humid weather with some isolated thunderstorm.

The state weather bureau, meanwhile, said the eastern section of the country and the northern section of Ilocos Norte will have moderate winds moving in the east to southeast direction with moderate (1.2 to 2.1 meters) coastal waters.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate east to northeast winds with light to moderate (0.6 to 2.1 meters) coastal waters.
