CEBU CITY—The Department of Health (DOH) in Central Visayas confirmed seven new cases that regional health officials, coining a new term, described as “presumptive positive” COVID-19 in the province of Cebu.
This brought to 15 the total number of such cases in the province, including in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.
Dr. Jaime Bernados, DOH regional director, defined presumptive positive as a case which was awaiting definitive test results from the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine.
The DOH regional office counted 12 such cases in Cebu City, one each in Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.
As of March 26, however, health officials in the province said there was just one “absolute positive case” of COVID-19, that of a 65-year-old man confined at the Chong Hua Hospital in Mandaue City.
