Over 1,000 tricycle, pedicab drivers in Ligao City receive aid
LIGAO CITY –– More than 1,000 tricycle and pedicab drivers in this city affected by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine imposed against the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) received assistance from the city government.
“Each driver of tricycle and padjak (pedicab) got 10 kilograms of rice, 10 pieces of canned goods, and 10 packs of noodles,” Noel Cerillo, city administrator said in a phone interview Thursday.
Ligao mayor Patricia Gonzalez-Alsua said each family would also receive cash assistance. But the mayor declined to disclose the amount.
She said she also ordered the frontliners to strictly enforce the quarantine checkpoint in the boarders of Ligao to curb the spread of the virus.
