Staffer tagged in slay seen in Iligan

/ 07:21 AM January 09, 2012

TWO security agencies whose personnel were assigned at a subdivision on the night a woman resident was shot dead failed to produce the licenses of the guards to the police.

PO3 Winston Ybanez of the Lapu-Lapu City police said the agencies are still processing the papers of security guard Rodulfo Cavalida, who was at the guard post of the Grand Pacific Villa subdivision when last Friday’s shooting occurred.

He said they received reports that the alleged shooter, subdivision staffer Randy Emborong, was in Iligan City in northern Mindanao last Saturday.  Emborong was accused of using Cavalida’s shotgun to shoot down Rose Ann La Paz.

Emborong supposedly had previous confrontations with la Paz after the woman resident failed to secure a car sticker from the homeowner’s association.

Ybanez said Cavilda’s shotgun was taken by police from security guard Elmer Villaraba.

Villaraba was on patrol when the incident occurred and both Cavilda and Emborong fled the scene after the shooting. Ybanez said they believe Cavilda is still hiding in Cebu. Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
