MPD probes cop for allegedly threatening Quiapo resident
MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Police District (MPD) said Thursday that it will be conducting an investigation into an alleged incident involving a Manila police officer who was caught on video while allegedly threatening a resident in Quiapo, Manila.
“May instruction na ako sa DID na imbestigahan at hanapin yung binantaan,” newly-installed MPD Director Brig. Gen. Rolando Miranda told INQUIRER.net in a text message.
(I have given an instruction to the Director for Investigation and Detective Management (DID) to investigate the incident and search for the resident who was threatened by the police officer.)
Miranda was referring to a video showing a Manila police officer cursing residents in Quiapo’s Muslim community after they reportedly refused to return to their homes.
The law enforcer also allegedly hurled invectives at the residents for going out of their homes using their barangay quarantine passes.
“‘P***** i** mo, matigas ang ulo mo, umuwi ka. Lalabas kayo kala niyo passage yung quarantine pass? (Go home. You thought a quarantine pass is passage?),” the angry policeman shouted at the residents.

The Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine has been in enforcement for more than a week. It was imposed to keep residents from leaving their homes and prevent the further community transmission of the coronavirus disease.
The respiratory disease has infected 32 people in the capital city. Two Manila residents have died of COVID-19.
