MANILA, Philippines — After arriving from Spain feeling “unwell,” former senator Bongbong Marcos had himself tested for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), his sister Senator Imee Marcos disclosed Thursday.
“He came back (from Spain) unwell. Finally got a test 2 nights ago, getting better at home,” she told reporters in a text message.
Asked if the test she was referring to was for coronavirus disease, COVID-19, Marcos answered in the affirmative.
Reports circulated online that the former senator, son and namesake of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos was confined in a hospital after returning from Spain, with some speculating that he tested positive for the disease.
“Wala pang result (No result yet). Mom (and I are) ok),” the lady senator said, referring to former first lady Imelda Marcos.
Spain is one of the battlegrounds for coronavirus disease in Europe, with hundreds of deaths in just a 24-hour period, a figure second only to Italy.
