‘Hot and humid’ weather to affect Visayas, Mindanao, says Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The easterlies, or warm winds coming from the Pacific ocean, will bring hot and humid weather across the country for the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said.

In a weather update on Thursday, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Ana Clauren said the easterlies continues to affect the southern part of the country.

Pagasa is also monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) 720 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

The LPA will not likely develop into a storm but may bring slight to moderate rains over the eastern section of Mindanao in the next 24 hours, according to Pagasa.

The state weather bureau said the Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley will experience generally fair weather on Thursday with only a slight chance of rain.

In Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, Pagasa said hot and humid weather is expected with a chance of scattered rain showers later in the afternoon and evening.

Temperature in Metro Manila will range from a low of 25 degrees Celsius to a high of 34 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, residents of Visayas and Mindanao can also expect hot and humid weather with a chance of scattered rain showers later in the afternoon and evening.

Cebu will have a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 32 degrees Celsius, Pagasa said.

For Zamboanga, a minimum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and 35 degrees Celsius is expected.

Meanwhile, temperature in Davao will range from a low of 25 degrees Celsius and a high of 34 degrees Celsius.

Coastal waters will be slight to moderate (0.6 to 2.1 meters) throughout the country with no gale warnings raised, Pagasa said.
