MANILA, Philippines — After one of its policemen tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Manila police station he was assigned to would undergo decontamination.

National Capital Region Police Office chief Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas said they were communicating with the policeman and would continue to provide him assistance.

Manila Police District (MPD) public information office chief Lt. Col. Carlo Magno Manuel said the policeman was assigned to field work.

After complaining of a sore throat on March 14, he went to a private hospital on March 17 and was tested for the virus. After the results came out on Monday, he was placed on home quarantine because his symptoms were mild. Nine MPD personnel who had direct contact with him went into isolation.
