Vaccine program continues in Ligao, though none for COVID-19

LIGAO CITY—City health officials continued to administer vaccines on residents, which would protect them from highly contagious diseases, but not against COVID-19 which has still no cure or vaccine.

Emily Alejo, city health office nurse, said health workers were going door-to-door to administer vaccines on children against polio, measles, mumps and rubella and pneumococcal vaccines against pneumonia.

Adults could also ask for pneumonia shots for protection. Health experts said no vaccine has been developed yet against COVID-19, a respiratory disease which was likely to lead to pneumonia, or infection of the lung, among the most vulnerable.
