MANILA, Philippines — Three buildings built by the family of property tycoon Manny Villar will serve as makeshift accommodations for Las Piñas General Hospital frontliners amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

These are the buildings of the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP) and the Provincial Board Members’ League (PBML), as well as the Las Piñas Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center. All are in Barangay Ilaya, Las Piñas City.

The buildings will have temporary accommodations for health workers and can be used as hospital facilities if more beds and rooms are needed, the Villar family said in a statement on Wednesday. Hospital staff will be provided with daily food needs, too.

The family donated supplies to hospitals last week, particularly the disinfecting apparatus, face masks, and drinking water. About 200,000 face masks and bottled water were given to the Department of Health (DOH).

Sen. Cynthia Villar said, “The end of this coronavirus crisis could be longer than everyone expected. We have to remain calm, follow the orders of the authorities for everyone’s sake, help in whatever way we can and set aside personal or political differences. We just have to remember that we are all in this together and we will overcome this as one.”
