ANGELES CITY, PAMPANGA—A Pampanga clothing line had diverted its advertising budget to finance the production of 10,000 masks for health workers on the frontlines of the fight against COVID-19.
“We will suspend sewing shirts and sew free face masks instead,” said Jed Lalu, 32, owner of the Kapampangan firm, INDU, in Kapampangan.
“We hope that with this small act we can beat this crisis together. We need each and everyone’s help in this time,” said Lalu.
Lalu said the company had distributed 2,000 face masks to checkpoints in Angeles, the JBL Hospital, the Ospital ning Angeles, the Pampang Market, and to the service crew of a fastfood restaurant at a village in the City of San Fernando.
On Tuesday (Mar. 24), INDU was scheduled to distribute masks to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Angeles University Foundation Medical Center.
Lalu said her company intended to make 3,000 masks this week. Because of the community quarantine, six of his staffers opted to sew masks at home.
“A lot of people are willing to help so we gave some of our cut outs or cloth trimmings to people who also want to sew face masks,” said Lalu, who operates eight stores in Pampanga and Tarlac.
