17 new cases of coronavirus reported in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — Seventeen more people were infected with the coronavirus in Manila, bringing the total count of cases of the deadly disease in the capital city to 30, the city government said Tuesday.

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno disclosed the spike in COVID-19 cases, saying it was more than 100 percent growth in a day.

“Nakakagulantang, that is more than 100 percent growth in one day. Seryosohin natin ito,” Moreno said in his City Address.

(This is startling, that is more than 100 percent growth in one day.)

Meanwhile, the total number of persons under investigation for the respiratory disease is now at 89.

The Manila government also asked the public to stay at their homes to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease.

The local government promised that they will distribute food packs to thousands of families, who are advised to observe strict home quarantine.
