COVID-19: Quezon City mounts 140 tents, temporary shelters for PUIs and PUMs

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has put up some 140 tents and temporary shelters in two facilities to isolate some persons under monitoring (PUMs) and persons under investigation (PUIs) for COVID-19.

In a text message to INQUIRER.net,  Mike Marasigan, Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (QCDRRMC) chief, said they erected 100 tents in Quezon Memorial Circle (QMC) and 40 temporary shelters in Quezon City University.

QCDRRMC, with the help of the 1502nd Army Reserve Brigade, also disinfected the tents.

The two areas have been closed to the public in compliance with the guidelines for the enhanced community quarantine, according to Marasigan. The Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine was imposed y President Rodrigo Duterte while more and more people in the country become infected with COVID-19.

The local government’s health department said there are 62 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Quezon City as of Tuesday. Of this, six have died while six were able to recover.

Also, Quezon City has so far recorded 34 PUIs and 193 PUMs.
