About 150 tourists will be given a treat of what midwest Cebu can offer as the Suroy Suroy sa Sugbo visits heritage and tourist spots in different towns in this part of the province.
The Suroy-Suroy caravan, now on its fifth year of visiting Midwest towns, will hit the trail on June 11 and June 12.
The tour will take tourists to the different heritage and tourist spots in the city of Toledo and the towns of Aloguinsan, Balamban, Tuburan, Pinamungajan, Asturias and Tabuelan.
For its first day, the tourist will take a tour of the ship building compound of Tsuneishi in Balamban.
They will also visit the different churches and heritage structures in Asturias and Tuburan.
Then they will have dinner at Maravilla Beach Club in Tabuelan town where tourists are expected to watch the sunset there.
For the second day, tourists will be treated to the sights of Pinamungajan and Aloguinsan towns including a river tour of Bojo River.
The caravan will end in Toledo City where they will witness the Hinulawan Festival.
Vice Mayor Arlene Zambo, the chairperson for the festival and the Suroy-Suroy for Toledo City, said this would be the biggest festival they had prepared.
This annual festival is held to honor its patron saint, St. John of Sahagun, which is celebrated every June 12. Seven contingents will compete in the festival.
Zambo said that they have prepared a 10-minute musical pyro fireworks by Dragon Fireworks on the grand finale of its festival.
They would also be launching the newly renovated Toledo City Museum.
Suroy-Suroy participants will be treated to a beach-themed dinner where they will be served “sinugbang bisayang manok” and barbecued “dalopapa.”
Zambo said they were expecting more tourist next year as a new P170 million government-owned hotel would open this August in the city. /Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
