TUGUEGARAO CITY –– The Department of Agriculture (DA) on Tuesday distributed 600 packs of ready-to-cook gourmix to health workers and frontliners at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center here.

Narciso Edillo, DA Cagayan Valley regional executive director, said gourmix is an original product of the DA-Cagayan Valley Research Center, a research experiment Station based in the City of Ilagan.

The ready-to-cook gourmix is made of rice, white corn, malunggay, soybean, ground mungbean, adlai, and yellow ginger.

“This is one way to show our support to the frontliners in our fight against the [coronavirus disease or] COVID-19,” Edillo said.

The agriculture department has also established a marketing terminal dubbed “Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita” at the DA-Multi-Purpose Cooperative in San Gabriel village in this city to cater to villagers who needed food during the community quarantine.

Fresh vegetables, farm eggs, chicken, dried fish, and other basic commodities could be bought at the site.

The goods came from Roxas in Isabela, Santo Nino in Cagayan and other areas. The Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal would also deliver food items, Edillo said.

A Kadiwa marketing terminal has also been established in Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Batanes, and Quirino to ensure food for communities while a Luzon-wide quarantine is in effect, Edillo said.
