Vico Sotto says Pasig’s ‘Mobile Palengke’ to minimize crowding at public markets

MANILA, Philippines — Pasig City government launched on Tuesday its five mobile markets in different barangays in the city in a bid to strictly implement social distancing for residents buying essential goods.

Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto announced this project to minimize crowds in Pasig Mega Market and other public markets, noting that mobile markets will sell affordable basic items.

“Presyong palengke, mas malapit sa mamimili, at tulong na rin sa mga maninindang Pasigueño,” Sotto wrote in a tweet.

(The items will be sold at an affordable price and will be stationed near customers. It will also help market sellers of Pasig.)

Sotto also noted that they will soon post a schedule for the mobile markets.

As required by the Department of Health, social distancing means having one-meter space in crowds to reduce the risk of transmission of the disease.
