NDFP peace panel exec to push Joma ceasefire recommendation
LUCENA CITY –– The head of the communist-led National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) peace panel positively responded to the proposed unilateral ceasefire to help stop the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country.
“We shall recommend the unilateral ceasefire to the NDFP national council,” Fidel Agcaoili, chief of the NDFP negotiating panel, said in a short online interview from his base in Utrecht in The Netherlands on Tuesday.
When pressed for more details, Agcaoili begged off and said: “That’s all for the meantime.”
Agcaoili made the declaration after his comrade, Communist Party of the Philippines founder, Jose Maria “Joma” Sison, earlier announced that he would advise the NDFP negotiating panel to recommend to its national council, to observe its unilateral ceasefire to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
