TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol—At least 127 foreign passengers stranded in Bohol because of COVID-19 travel restrictions will be sent back to their countries.
As of Monday (March 23), 23 of the foreigners had left the Tubigon Port in Bohol headed to Cebu, said Christopher Boncales of the Bohol Tourism Office.
The foreigners, he said, will take flights to their countries at the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
“The trips were arranged by their embassies so that they can safely return to their respective places of origin,” said Boncales.
Most of stranded passengers were from Europe, which the World Health Organization described as the new epicenter of COVID-19.
Boncales said, however, that only those with confirmed flights would be allowed to leave MCIA within 24 hours upon arrival at the airport.
The foreigners, he said, were required to present travel documents, health clearance certificates and confirmed flight tickets.
