Laguna’s first COVID-19 fatality was its third confirmed case

SAN PEDRO CITY—Laguna’s third novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patient was also the province’s first COVID-19 fatality, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday (March 23).

The fatality was a resident of Cabuyao City, according to DOH records as of 6 p.m. of March 22.

In Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon (Calabarzon) region the number of cases had gone up to 44. Six had died while three had recovered.

Cavite has 13 cases in the cities of Bacoor, Dasmariñas, Imus and General Trias and in the towns of Silang, Tanza, Naic and Rosario.

In Laguna, aside from the fatality, two other people, both from Sta. Rosa City, had tested positive for the virus.

Batangas has eight cases in the cities of Batangas, Tanauan, and Lipa and in the towns of Lemery and Nasugbu.

Rizal has 19 recorded in Cainta (10), Antipolo City (5), Taytay (3) and San Mateo (1).
