MANILA, Philippines — Parañaque City has been placed under a 24-hour curfew amid an enhance community quarantine imposed in the entire Luzon in a bid to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivares said families in the city have already been given home quarantine passes which will be used by one member of the household to buy food and other basic necessities.
“Nagi-implement na po kami dito po sa Parañaque po na 24 hours po na curfew dito para po sa atin pong enhanced community quarantine,” Olivares said in an interview on dzMM on Monday.
(We are implementing a 24-hour curfew in Parañaque for our enhanced community quarantine.)
“Nakapagbigay na po kami nung atin pong mga pass. Yung atin pong home quarantine pass para bawat isang pamilya po, isa lang po ang authorized na lumabas sa bahay para po sa kanilang mga essentials,” he added.
(We’ve already distributed our passes. The home quarantine pass. Only one member of the family is authorized to go out to buy essentials.)
So far, the local governments of Las Piñas and Muntinlupa have placed their cities under a 24-hour curfew.
Whether or not an all-day curfew will be set in all Metro Manila local government units (LGU) is still up for discussion, according to Olivares.
“May meeting po ngayon umaga po, lahat po ng ating mga city administrators pati po yung MMC (Metro Manila Council) para mapaguspan po yang kaso na yan,” Olivares said when asked if a Metro-wide 24-hour curfew is being considered.
(There will be a meeting this morning with all our city administrators and the MMC so we can talk about that.)
“Pero marami na pong nagpapa-implement po ng 24-hour curfew na LGU all over Metro Manila,” he said.
(But a lot of LGUs all over Metro Manila have imposed a 24-hour curfew.)
The number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines soared to 380 after 73 new cases were confirmed on Sunday.
Of the number, 25 patients have died and 15 recovered.
