Albay town to implement ‘coding’ for market-goers during Luzon-wide lockdown

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines  — The local government of Daraga in Albay will be implementing a “market coding” scheme to manage the movement of residents while the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is being enforced.

Mayor Victor Perete said that residents of Barangays (villages) Sagpon, Maroroy, San Roque, Sipi and Ilawod will be allowed in the public market in the town center every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Residents of the villages of Market Site, Tagas, Binitayan, Kimantong, Bagumbayan, and Bañag will have their turn to go to the market every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Only two market days will be given to households in 15 Northern and 29 Southern barangays. Perete said the barangay council will determine the said schedule.

Residents in Southern barangays can also buy goods in the Anislag market in the upland area.

A quarantine pass is given to a member of a family to buy basic commodities and medicines.

“Our health is very important, we need to follow the schedule to limit the number of residents who are going out,” he said.

The town will have a dry run on Monday (March 23) for the new market scheme and will be fully implemented starting Tuesday.
