Filipinos among COVID-19 cases in Brunei, India

MANILA, Philippines — Two Filipinos have tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) abroad: one in Brunei Darussalam and one in India, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed Sunday.

A male Filipino was hospitalized in Mumbai after experiencing breathing difficulties. He has been in India since early March and was found to have been infected with coronavirus.

Another Filipino is in a local health facility in Brunei and is in stable condition, as per the country’s Ministry of Health.

The Philippine embassies in both countries are coordinating with health ministries and “shall extend appropriate assistance to ensure that our kababayans are afforded with maximum care and support,” the DFA said.

Filipinos have been found positive with COVID-19 in other Asian territories such as Hong Kong, Kuwait, Macau, Singapore and South Korea.

The Philippines has 380 confirmed coronavirus cases as of writing.
